Blog On Croissants

Croissants, A breakfast favourite in northern Europe, croissants are a well known French delicacy.
But is that all croissants have to offer. Even though croissants are known for being French it turns out they are actually Austrian.

Croissants were invented in Austria in 1683 during the siege of Vienna, The bakers saw the crescent symbol on their enemies armour and the croissants were made to commemorate the Austrian victory during the siege. The events that led to croissants becoming a French delicacy was when Marie Antoinette married Louis XVI King of France.

When Marie Moved to France the bakers decided to celebrate her arrival by making her feel at home with the Austrian breakfast pastry.
